Synthesis and Spectral Studies on Cardanol Based Polyurethanes

Cardanol is a renewable organic resource obtained as a byproduct from the cashew industry. The present study has been carried out with an aim to manufacture rigid polyurethanes from natural and eco – friendly sources due to the rising prices of petrochemicals and also as an environmental concern. Vegetable oil based polyurethanes promising a new generation polymers which are low cost materials in the family of polyurethanes. Cardanol based phenolic resin has been synthesized by condensing cardanol with furfural in a particular mole ratio using phthalic acid as catalyst. The progress of the reaction was monitored by determining the free furfural and free phenol content. The resin was cured by using the curing agent 4, 41 - methylene bis(cyclohexyl isocyanate) and the catalyst dibutyltin dilaurate to produce polyurethane. Polyurethanes are an important class of polymers that have found place in many applications. The physico chemical and spectral properties of resin and polyurethane have also been studied.

The Effect of Nickel Incorporation on Some Physical Properties of Epoxy Resin

The J-E characteristics of samples of epoxy resins mixed with nickel powder in different concentrations have been tested and a log-log straight line behaviour in both the low- and high field regions is observed. Ni-concentration has significant influence on the calculated constants of the J-E relationship. The d.c. electrical resistivity (ρ) of the samples are measured from the room temperature up to about 400 K. The variation of ρ with T obeys the exponential relation of ordinary dielectrics in three temperature regions. The parameters characterizing the ρ -T dependence change considerably with Ni-concentration. Due to the existence of nickel in different concentration a "true" compensation effect is observed with three characteristic compensation temperatures. The mechanical hardness of the samples was investigated as a function of Ni-concentration.

Customer Behavior Analysis for Social Media

It is essential for a business organization to get the customer feedback in order to grow as a company. Business organizations are collecting customer feedback using various methods. But the question is ‘are they efficient and effective?’ In the current context, there is more of a customer oriented market and all the business organizations are competing to achieve customer delight through their products and services. Social Media plays a huge role in one’s life. Customers tend to reveal their true opinion about certain brands on social media rather than giving routine feedback to the producers or sellers. Because of this reason, it is identified that social media can be used as a tool to analyze customer behavior. If relevant data can be gathered from the customers’ social media feeds and if these data are analyzed properly, a clear idea to the companies what customers really think about their brand can be provided.

Demographic and Behavioural Segmentation of Tourist at Pilgrimages in Satara of Maharashtra State

Paper aims to understand demographic and behavioural tourist segmentation at pilgrimage destinations of Satara district. There are places known for pilgrimage however, 3 well-known destinations viz. Aundh, Wai and Sajjangarh are selected for study. Structured schedule executed to interview 97 tourists at tourist sites. Descriptive and Multivariate statistical tools are used i.e. two step cluster analysis to determine the segmentation. Hypotheses proposed to test viz. There is significant difference among the demographic variable of the sample. ANOVA was used to test the hypothesis. The results show that there is significant difference in the demographic variables available in sample data. Based on demographic variables two clusters were sorted and based on behavioural pattern 2 clusters found at Wai and Sajjangarh and 3 at Aundh. Scale of demographic variable cluster quality is just adequate at all pilgrimage centres. However at behavioural based quality scale is poor at Wai, satisfactory at rest of the destination. Demographic profile denote that majority of tourist come from other than Maharashtra, family tourist, Day visitors, repeaters found more and majority have used personal car to visit the sites.. Friends and relatives reference used to know the site.

Enhancement of Landfill Daily Cover in Minimizing the Migration of Heavy Metals in Landfill Leachate by Using Natural Soil, Pressmud& Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) in PulauBurung Landfill

This study emphasizes on the removal of heavy metals in landfill leachate by using natural soil mixed with agricultural wastes. The agricultural wastes used in this study werenatural soil or known as laterite soil, pressmud which is a waste from sugar refinery process and Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB), one of many forms of waste fromoil palm industry. The laterite soil was mixed with these wastes at different percentages of weight ratio namely 50S:40P:10E, 50S:30P:20E, 50S:25P:25E, 50S:10P:40E and 50S:20P:30E. The terms S, P and E each refers to soil, pressmud and empty fruit bunch respectively.Removal efficiency tests were also carried out and the results showed that the mixtures of laterite soil have the ability to remove concentrationsof As2+, Cd2+, Cr2+, Cu2+, Fe2+, Ni2+ and Zn2+between a range of 86% (minimum) and 99% (maximum) compared to removal via soil per se. Ergo, the laterite soil-pressmud-EFB mixtures signify great potential to be made as a daily cover material that minimizes heavy metals migration in landfill leachate, eliminates odor issues and providesadditional protection from further infiltration.

Investigative study of seasonal changes in Quality Parameters of Oluwa River Water, Agbabu area of Nigeria

Physico-chemical parameters of River Oluwa water in Agbabu, Nigeria were investigated to determine its quality characteristics and establish seasonal effects on the water. Water from the river was collected at five different points in dry season (March, 2008 and 2009) and rainy season (July, 2008 and 2009). Insitu parameters (pH, EC and Turbidity) were measured using Horiba Water Checker Model U-10 while TDS was by Lovibond CM – 21 Tintometer. Subsequently in the Laboratory, Na+ and K+ were determined using flame photometric methods while Ca2+, Mg2+, HCO3-, SO42-, Cl-, PO42- and NO3- were determined by wet analysis. River Oluwa water was alkaline with average pH of 7.41 and 7.53 in dry and rainy seasons respectively. Electrical conductivity (EC) was high during dry season (av. 630.44 µS/cm), but low in the rainy season (av. 317.58 µS/cm) due to long residence time in dry season allowing more water-rock interaction. Turbidity’s average values of 0.14 NTU and 2.29 NTU in dry and rainy seasons respectively suggested moderate pollution with particulate matter. The order of average cations concentrations in the dry and rainy seasons was Ca2+ > K+ > Na+ > Mg2+ while that of the anions was HCO3- > Cl- >SO42- > NO3-. The ions concentrations though lower in rainy season, Ca2+-HCO3- water was dominant in both seasons. Quality evaluation for irrigation revealed that the water was suitable for all irrigation purposes. River Oluwa water was soft, low mineralized, chemically potable, suitable for irrigation but with lower ionic concentrations in rainy season.

Best Keyword Query Search Using Minimum Spatial Cover

Enlivened by the expanding fame of Mobile processing, administrations in view of area and with the accessibility of computerized maps, the spatial catchphrase look has achieved wide consideration. In spatial databases the relationship of items is finished with watchwords. The reason for existing is to locate various free protests, in which each item is closer to the area of question and the catchphrases related will be identified with the gathering of inquiry watchwords. The related watchword closeness is connected to gauge the connection among two gathered catchphrases. The idea of watchword spread, covers all related inquiry catchphrases which are nearer to each other. This methodology is known as m Closest Keywords (mCK) inquiry. The goal is to investigate a general structure, known as Best Keyword Cover (BKC) questions, which alongside bury objects separate additionally considers appraisals of catchphrase, which improves the basic leadership process. In BKC inquiry handling, two calculations are utilized: Baseline and Keyword Nearest Neighbor Expansion (KNNE). The gauge calculation is gotten from mCK question handling. The working of the gauge calculation diminishes radically as a result of incomprehensible catchphrase covers produced. To beat this disadvantage, a more extensible calculation KNNE is utilized. This calculation decreases the quantity of watchword spreads delivered.

Avoiding Retransmissions Using Random Coding Scheme or Fountain Code Scheme

In a perfect world, the throughput of a Multipath TCP (MPTCP) association ought to be as high as that of different disjoint single-way TCP streams. In actuality, the throughput of MPTCP is far lower than anticipated. In this paper, we lead angeneral reproduction construct ponder in light of this peculiarity, and the outcomes show that a sub stream encountering high postponement and misfortune extremely influences the execution of other sub streams, in this manner turning into the half back of the MPTCP association and knowingly humiliating the total great put. To handle this issue, we propose Wellspring code-based Multipath TCP (FMTCP), which viably mitigates the negative effect of the heterogeneity of modified ways. FMTCP exploits the unintentional way of the wellspring code to adaptably transmit encoded images from the same or diverse information hinders over various sub streams. In addition, we plan an information portion calculation in view of the foreseen bundle arriving time and deciphering command to facilitate the transmissions of various sub streams. Quantitative reviews are given to demonstrate the advantage of FMTCP. We likewise assess the presentation of FMTCP through ns-2 recreations and exhibit that FMTCP beats IETF-MPTCP, a run of the mill MPTCP approach, when the ways have various misfortune and deferral as far as higher aggregate great put, bring down postponement, and jitter. Also, FMTCP acknowledges high security under sudden changes of way quality.

Sprawl Developments: Measurement Indicator and Projections in Selected Nigerian Cities

Sprawl development is commonly attributed to the unprecedented rate of urbanization and city spatial growth. Large cities are not necessarily sprawling but are determined by characteristic compactness and connectedness of the metropolitan development and services including infrastructure and amenities. The understanding of the sprawl phenomenon is enhanced by some characteristic measurement of sprawl making use of certain development parameters. This paper therefore highlights an aspect of the measurement of sprawl utilizing the results from remote sensing data sourced from records of satellite images (from various Landsat and Nigeriasat) documented in research literatures. Also, the population census figures for each of the cities were sourced and projected as required for analysis and used in conjunction with their respective urban built-up land coverage. Results reveal varying pattern of relationship between progressions of urban spatial coverage changes and growth of population over a specified period of time. Intrinsic values from the computation such as urban population density and land consumption rate evolve as indicators for sprawl development and measurements.

Sensitization of Gold Dust in 430 Grade Stainless Steel

'Gold dusting' is a surface defect that is sometimes observed on cold-rolled AISI type 430 stainless steel. Gold dusting is characterized by a sparkling appearance, which results from small flakes of metal on the cold rolled surface, the flakes are mostly elongated in the rolling direction. The processing steps include continuous casting, hot rolling, continuous annealing, and pickling. One possibility is that the flakes of metal are grains that had been undercut by intergranular corrosion such intergranular corrosion may occur during pickling after the annealing step (which itself follows hot rolling). If intergranular corrosion does occur during this pickling step, the intergranular cavities would be elongated by subsequent cold rolling; this can account for the observed morphology of gold dusting. If the steel has been sensitized, intergranular corrosion may occur during pickling. Pickling is commonly carried out by electrolytic descaling in a neutral sodium sulphate solution followed by immersion in a nitric acid/hydrofluoric acid bath. The sensitized type 430 stainless steel does, indeed, suffer intergranular corrosion in a nitric acid/hydrofluoric acid bath, while it is largely unaffected during electrolytic pickling. Hence, sensitization is a possible cause of gold dusting.

Fuzzy Based Vertical Handoff Decision Controller for Future Networks

Abstract— In Next generation wireless Networks, the received signals (RSS) from different networks do not have a same meaning since each network is composed of its specific characteristics and there is no common pilot signal. Then, RSS comparisons are insufficient for handoff decision and may be inefficient and impractical. A more complex decision criterion that combines a large number of parameters or factors such as monetary cost, bandwidth, and power consumption and user profile is necessary. Though there are a lot works available for vertical handoff decision (VHD) for wireless networks, the selection of best network is still challenging problem. In this paper we propose a Fuzzy based vertical handoff decision controller (FVHDC) Which performs handover decision based on the output of fuzzy based rules.
