As outlined in the CPC Central Committee and State Council’s September 2023 opinions on supporting Fujian in exploring new pathways for cross-strait integration and building a demonstration zone, it is clear that Fujian will lead future peaceful reunification and integration interactions across the Taiwan Strait[1]. Moreover, Taiwan’s leadership election candidates have emphasized Kinmen’s construction as a precursor to cross-strait interaction, underscoring that Kinmen, as the closest link, will be the most critical area for future-oriented cross-strait exchanges. This paper therefore analyzes key exchange project types, delves into the candidates’ political views, and examines the feasibility of establishing centralized key projects and interactive demonstration points. With the youth era as the driving theme, the focus areas include jointly building infrastructure, expanding the convenience of private exchanges, co-developing major tourism demonstration projects, adjusting and setting up demonstration points, and exploring the construction of interactive areas for ethnic minorities. This leads to exploring the feasibility of jointly building Kinmen and Xiamen into 'two-door' cross-strait exchange demonstration residences. Such an approach not only integrates and explores the economic and social development of various ethnic groups across the Strait and enhances cross-strait exchanges and integration, but also highlights the significance of characteristic cultural industries for cross-strait integration and development. The findings are expected to provide a reference for interactions between relevant authorities on both sides of the Strait and non-governmental organizations. |
