|
The article explores the mechanisms through which strategic partnerships generate value and sustain competitive advantage in technology markets shaped by digitalization, platform interdependence, modular innovation, and data-intensive competition. The article explains how interfirm partnerships support value creation and become a durable source of competitive advantage. The topic is relevant because technology firms and media actors operate within ecosystems in which critical resources, infrastructure, audiences, and capabilities are dispersed across legally separate organizations. The novelty of the study lies in integrating the resource-based view, the relational view, dynamic capabilities, and transaction cost economics into a single analytical framework for partnership-based competition in technology markets, with media firms examined as ecosystem participants. The main findings show that value creation arises from complementary resource combinations, knowledge and data exchange, faster innovation cycles, joint development, risk sharing, and access to new markets and infrastructures. Sustainable advantage depends on relation-specific assets, alliance management capability, effective governance, ecosystem positioning, network effects, and the linkage between data access and audience reach. The article will be useful for researchers, strategy scholars, managers of technology and media firms, and professionals engaged in alliance design and ecosystem governance. |
